Chamber Music

PMMF STRING OCTET

Iron Mountain (July 6), Ironwood (July 7), Houghton (July 8), Marquette (July 11).

This concert will feature eight members of our opera orchestra playing some of the great masterpieces of the string chamber music repertoire. These versatile and stellar musicians will have a chance to shine outside of the orchestra pit in this exciting concert. The repertoire features two of Shostakovich's early works, Tchaikovsky's well-loved Souvenir de Florence for string sextet, and Mendelssohn's great masterpiece, his Octet in E-flat Major.

AMERIIKAN POIJAT (Boys of America)

Ironwood (July 12), Calumet (July 14)

This is one of the leading brass septets in the world and has been playing together for more than 20 years. They concertize throughout Finland, the US and Canada on a regular basis and have developed a tremendous following over the years. Their repertoire includes classical, folk and dances of all sorts. Their musicality and spirit have won them continued praise and we are proud to have them join the Festival to help celebrate " The Rockland Season."
