The Honors Orchestra Program, initiated in 1994, provides high school aged musicians the opportunity to be immersed in the professional musicians’ world through coaching and performance. The program offers outstanding high school students, selected through auditions, a performance experience side-by-side with professional musicians in a classical symphonic and/or operatic setting.
The young musicians are individually mentored by appropriate professional musicians and conducted by PMMF's Artistic Director. Coached chamber music opportunities are provided to the participants. Exploration of the professional musicians’ world is accomplished through conversations with faculty, informal group discussion and by attendance at and performance in professional productions, including touring experience.
The HOP is offered dependent upon programming of each specific Festival season.
