Auditions for summer 2010 are now closed.
Thank you to all artists who have applied.
The Resident Chamber Musicians (RCM) program was begun in 2007 when we welcomed the Aeolus Quartet from the Cleveland Institute of Music. The mission is to provide emerging young professional chamber musicians a chance to further develop their skills in a professional and nurturing environment. We provide three opportunities to fulfill this mission:
1.) Chamber Concerts-We are able to provide chamber groups with the opportunity to enhance their performing skills with a series of their own recitals in the Western Upper Peninsula and Northeast Wisconsin. This year we are providing our two ensembles with six concerts on which each ensemble will each play at least one major work.
2.) Large Ensemble-The musicians will have to the opportunity to be a part of our large ensembles. This season they will join with professionals in our opera orchestra.
3.) Mentoring-Ensembles will be closely mentored by members of The Bergonzi String Quartet, who have been in residence with the Festival for over 15 years. They will work with the ensembles in both private and public sessions.
We offer musicians an opportunity to focus on making music with little to distract them. We have practice facilities, mentors, a welcoming environment and a very appreciative audience. Unfortunately the program was on hiatus in 2008, but we are pleased to be in full swing this year and anticipate the program will develop further over the next few years.
